The Camino Inglés: From Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela.

The name of this route, the Camino Inglés or the English way, refers to the first pilgrims taking this way since the 17th century; mostly coming from Northern Europe, Britain and Ireland.
The first data we have is from the year 1147 when a group of crusaders on their way to the Holy Land, passed by Santiago to visit the tomb of the apostle.
These pilgrims arrived not only in Ferrol but also in La Coruña. Some pilgrims still walk the Camino from the city of La Coruña, but only if you start your Camino in Ferrol you will be rewarded with a ‘Compostela’  pilgrim certificate, as you will complete at least the last 100 km on your way to Santiago de Compostela.
That’s why most of the pilgrims decide to start in Ferrol.
